TMR is a well-known and award-winning Polynesian Dance Company located in Benicia, CA. The group is dedicated to educating the community and celebrating Polynesian culture through dance, music, and storytelling. Their existing website, however, presented a challenge. Unclear navigation made it difficult for users to discover the group's vibrant cultural offerings, including classes, performances, and extracurricular programs. To an extent, this hindered their ability to connect with the community and share their passion for Polynesian culture.
Web Designer - I was tasked with the redesign of TMR's website to improve online presence. Through wireframes and stakeholder feedback, I simplified interfaces and navigation, making it easier for users to find what they need quickly. With Webflow, I built a website aligned with their brand, following a clear style guide and using consistent variables.

Wireframes, Style Guide, Mobile & Desktop UX/UI
Defining the structure of each page, including user flow and information heirarchy.
Stakeholder feedback on the initial wireframes addressed the need to improve navigation and ensure alignment with business needs. With the understanding that a majority of users visit the TMR website to register for classes, we prioritized this action by adding a dedicated registration funnel to the navigation bar. These changes are reflected in the final designs.

This project taught me about working with stakeholders and clients. While there can be moments of frustration when visions don't align - ultimately, it reinforced the role of what it means to be a user-centered designer. It highlighted the importance of prioritizing customer and user needs over personal design preferences, even if it meant letting go of backing up your designs. In the future, I am determined on working on my communication skills to ensure a smoother design process and successful project outcomes.
